Topanga

For this week’s SONGS TO CHEW podcast I’ve picked a song that’s a bit different than what I usually write.  It’s from my RIVER OF LIFE album, “Topanga”.  The chewable question to ask, is “can we allow ourselves to feel happy in our geodesic dome house, living in our predominantly white village, even though we know how the rest of the world struggles to survive on less than one tenth of the resources we expend on our own unsustainable privileged ways?”

Me And You

Today’s SONGS TO CHEW podcast is about my song “Me And You” from my RIVER OF LIFE album.  People don’t like to be told how or what to think.  I believe that’s one of the reasons we’re so politically polarized in our country these days.  So if someone asks me why I do what I do, I start off by sayin’, “Now you don’t need to ‘see it my way’, if you can, ‘see my way’, … and I’m interested in ‘seeing your way’ too."  Might not agree, but at least we’re talkin’!

     This week on my SONGS TO CHEW podcast, I’ve got a song about a young activist named Emily May and her group of friends who work to Stop Street Harrassment and Bullying all around the world.  They’re called Hollaback, … and so’s this song!
 

Good Book

     On my SONGS TO CHEW podcast this week, we’ll hear a song from my RIVER OF LIFE album called “Good Book”.  It’s a very useful book for all of us here in the United States, and it’s not about the Bible.  It’s a book written by Dr. Gene Sharp, called “How Non-violent Struggle Works.”  It’s a step by step explanation of how to overthrow a dictator, especially useful in our world now, where strong-men dictators feel they can run rough-shod over the people who live in their countries.

     This week’s SONG TO CHEW is “We’re Here For You”, from my River Of Life album.  It’s inspired by the courageous and caring women I know who work at the National Women’s Health Network and in various FWHC’s ~ Feminist Women’s Health Centers around our country, caring, supporting, protecting and promoting all women’s right to quality health care in our society.  It’s a PSA ~ public service announcement for FWHC’S!  Find one in your neighborhood!
